Wrap up from 2010 Pacific Junior Curling Championships

Recently the National junior men’s and women’s teams competed in the Pacific Junior Curling Championships held in Naseby, New Zealand.

For both teams this has become a familiar venue after having already been involved in high performance camps and numerous national events held at the facility.

While the results weren't on the winning side of the ledger, both teams pushed their pacific counterparts at various points through the week and represented our country with pride.

The eventual winners of the two events were China in the Men’s draw and Japan narrowly winning an enthralling final against Korea in the Women’s, with the Japanese skip making a 15ft, angle raise and stick on her last shot to claim the title.

Both these teams as a result qualified for the World Junior Championships held in Scotland. An Impressive effort also by the Kiwi girls to overcome highly experienced China to take bronze.

A big thank you goes out to everyone involved behind the scenes to get both juniors teams to the event.

The Next Pacific Junior Championships will be held in South Korea in January 2012.
